People all around waited for this one night of glamour, when the general public and the world of fashion come together. This year was Vogue’s 4th anniversary of VFNO and Florence’s first year participating. Milan hosted this event on September 6th, followed by Rome on the 13th, making Florence the last of Italy to host VFNO on September 18th.
Over 200 of Florence’s most glamorous and high end stores participated in the event, not to mention the restaurants, clubs, and cocktail parties. From 19:00 well into the night stores kept their doors open so that everyone, no matter who you were, could come in and look around. VFNO bags, T shirts, DJs, and cocktails floated around everywhere Tuesday night. There were many limited edition and custom items for sale with a portion of the of the nights proceeds going to the earthquake victims of Emilia.
As you walked through the streets, through the masses of people, the lights of the shop windows would draw you in. Even before you entered the store, the window displays are mesmerizing in all their details. Shoppers were met at the door by a welcome greeting, and perhaps a drink; the shops of Florence’s VFNO made you feel like you belonged there. Shopping at night gave a very different feel to the stores, enhancing their charisma. With such beauty and elegance in every shop you couldn’t help wishing every night was Vogue Fashion’s Night Out.
